Why is the PayPal Business App being discontinued?

We are discontinuing the app to streamline our service and focus on delivering the best user experience through the PayPal app. This change allows us to allocate resources toward improving the features and performance of our business and consumer experiences through a single app experience.

When will the app no longer be available?

The app will no longer be available after June 30, 2025. However, after this date, you can still access your account and functionalities through the web experience and PayPal app.

How do I access my account after the business app is discontinued?

Your account and all associated data will remain secure and accessible through the web and PayPal app experience. Your information will not be lost; you can log in with the same credentials on PayPal.com and continue running your business.

I’m using the PayPal app for my personal account. Do I have to log out and log back in with my business account?

We recommend you link your business account to your personal account. This will allow you to seamlessly switch between consumer and business account experiences through shared authorization. Follow these steps to link your personal and business accounts.

What is account linking?

Account linking allows you to connect two separate accounts (e.g., personal and business) for seamless access while maintaining their independent settings, balance, and account details.

What are the benefits of account linking?

  • Manage personal and business accounts from a single login.
  • Separate personal and business transactions while quickly switching between accounts.

Will linking accounts share information between them?

No. Account information remains separate. Linking only allows unified access and management.

Are there any fees for linking accounts?

No. Linking an account does not incur a fee. For information about our fees, go to the Help Center or click Fees at the bottom of the page.

What are the benefits of the PayPal app over the Business app?

We're excited to offer a seamless app experience where users can manage their business and consumer lives from a single app.

  • Shared auth: With the PayPal app, you can connect your consumer account to your business account and seamlessly switch between your consumer and business account.
  • Improved invoicing capabilities: The PayPal app offers an improved invoicing capability that allows you to easily send and manage professional invoices through the app.
  • Business Profile: You can create a public-facing Business Profile to showcase your business and get paid. This feature is only available from the PayPal app.
  • Customers: You can now add customers to your customer database and manage them through the PayPal app.
  • Improved UI: PayPal app offers an improved user experience.

I can’t find my Sales Insights in the PayPal app. Where is it?

Currently, Sales Insights are not available in the PayPal app. However, you can get a detailed overview of your sales by logging into PayPal.com.

How do I save my invoices in the PayPal app?

Currently, we don't allow invoices to be saved in the PayPal app. However, you can create a draft invoice from PayPal.com.

How can I continue to manage my business through the web?

Our Business Help Center provides more information about invoicing, shipping, PayPal Business Debit Card, and PayPal Working Capital. You can also find details about issuing a refund, managing disputes, releasing holds, and removing account limitations.

Do I need to have a business account to use the PayPal app?

No. You can log in to the PayPal app with your personal account. However, you might not see business-specific features from the personal account, such as customers, items library, business profile, shipping, etc. To access these capabilities, you can either open a new business account with PayPal or upgrade your personal account to a business account.

What do I need to open a new business account linked to my personal account?

You will need a different email address other than the one used on your personal account to open a new business account tied to your personal account. Follow these steps to link your personal and business accounts.

What is an account upgrade?

An account upgrade converts your current personal account to a business account.

What are things that I could do in the Business app that I can no longer do in the PayPal app?

Some features won't be available in the PayPal app. These include Saving invoices in the PayPal app, issuing refunds, allowing partial payments, allowing tips on invoices, viewing Sales Insights, creating a sharable link for Selling on social media, and tracking ready-to-ship items.
